Instructions for Joining a
UUCLR Email Group
You will either need to have signed up with Google in the
past, or follow their verification process (which simply involves being sent an
e-mail with a link to click, just to verify that your e-mail address is valid).
The system will walk to you through this process – two simple steps.
-
Click on the “Join this group” link in the center of
the page. If you have used Google’s services before you will just sign in on
the right as normal. If you have never used Google’s services, click the Sign
Up Now link on the left side of the page, and it will ask you to fill in a brief
form (e-mail address, the password you would like to use for this group - NOT
YOUR NORMAL E-MAIL PASSWORD), to add a nickname for yourself if desired, and to
complete a verification box (just type what you see in the box – to make sure
that a person and not a computer program is signing you up).
-
If you are a new
Google Groups member, you will need to open your e-mail and click on the
verification link in your e-mail. THIS IS REQUIRED! If not, your subscription
will not be completed.
Because so
many of us change our e-mail addresses or “joining” preferences regularly,
this sign-up process allows individuals total control over their own freedom of choices and
most current information (please note you will still need to send your
information to the Membership Committee for any change to the directory, as
these are two separate functions).
*** NOTE - PLEASE
PUT "YOUR NAME" IN THE NICKNAME FIELD FOR ANY EMAIL GROUP OTHER THAN
Committees, Groups, etc. -- in these interest group areas you need to put your committee,
function, or group representation in the nickname field
