Children and Youth Scheduling

Fall classes will be held from 11:00 – 12:00 each Sunday, except during special multi-generational worship services. All ages will gather for Children’s Chapel, and then break off into the following groups:

Creating Home
Kindergarten through 1st grade (ages 4-6)

This program helps children develop a sense of home that is grounded in faith. We ask questions about the purpose of having a home and the functions a home serves, for us as humans and for other animals. The program speaks of home as a place of belonging and explores the roles each of us play in the homes where we live. The program introduces the concept of a “faith home” — our congregation — which shares some characteristics with a family home. Like a family home, a faith home offers its members certain joys, protections, and responsibilities.

Moral Tales
Second through Fourth grade (ages 7-9)

Every day our children go forth into a complex world where they are often faced with difficult decisions and situations. Moral Tales provides children with the spiritual and ethical tools they will need to make choices and take actions reflective of their Unitarian Universalist beliefs and values. Each lesson is focused around a central story in which participants meet real and fictional heroes and heroines who have displayed moral courage and spiritual greatness.  The stories in Moral Tales draw upon many of our Unitarian Universalist sources, portraying moral dilemmas and paths to goodness and justice through a variety of cultural and religious lessons.  All lessons include hands-on activities to make learning accessible to all learning styles as well as structured exercises for questioning, reflecting and self-expression.

Toolbox of Faith
Fifth through Seventh grade (ages 10-12)

What tools does Unitarian Universalism offer for the challenges of life? Toolbox of Faith invites participants to reflect on the qualities of our Unitarian Universalist faith, such as integrity, courage, and love, as tools they can use in living their lives and building their own faith. Each session uses a tool as a metaphor for an important quality of our faith such as reflection (symbolized by a mirror), flexibility (duct tape), and justice (a flashlight).

Second Sundays Faith in Action

On second Sundays, the children will have the opportunity to put their faith into action by working on meaningful social and environmental justice projects.
