Community Building is an Important Part of Our Program.
Throughout the year Religious Education sponsors
intergenerational events that offer the opportunity for community building
across the age-spectrum of our beloved community. Everyone benefits when the
ages have fun together and children raised UU are much more likely to remain UU
when they have these experiences. We have also found that everyone has much more
fun at intergenerational parties and events. Some of the events already scheduled for this year
are:
-
Halloween Carnival in October
-
The creation of El Dia de los Muertos altar
-
The holidays giving project November and
December
-
Easter hunt and service project
in April.
-
Picnic in June honoring parents.
Other events will be planned throughout the year with the
whole congregation in mind. Last year we sponsored an all-church visit to the
zoo and another to the planetarium.
There are other events planned each year specifically for
elementary-aged children. These include holiday crafts workshop, family dance, visits to children's
theater events and family picnics. Here is a complete list of CAYRE events
scheduled as of September. Watch for more information and any schedule changes
for these events in
the Outer Circle and the weekly REport.
Many require registration and payment in advance. Your cooperation with the
timeline is important to the success of the event.
The middle school and upper school youth groups plan their
own events with the assistance of their youth advisors.
Registration is
Required
We want to make sure that your child is safe and his needs
are met in our program. It is very important that each family complete a
registration form and a permission slip. We must know if your child has any
allergies or other physical concerns that we should know about. You know your
children best. Please, also, share with us any tips for making them feel at home
and meeting any other needs. The form also has a space for you to note your
volunteer preferences. Please check out "We Work Together" to find out
more about sharing the responsibilities for religious education.
We need to hear from parents.
We rely heavily on the feedback from you that we get
at the end of the year for guidance in planning for the next year. Please
don't wait until then to tell us what your children's experiences are in
our programming. We do our best to meet the religious and developmental
needs of all our children and youth. From time to time that is impossible
but we always keep your concerns in mind as we make
decisions. Please feel free to
call or e-mail either the co-chairs of the Religious Education Committee or the
DRE at any time with your ideas, questions and concerns.
